What is a Couples session

A couples session isn't about standing still, staring at a camera, and holding a fake smile. Think of it as a fun, relaxed date night where I happen to tag along with a camera. We’ll hang out, laugh, and focus on how you two actually interact when you're having fun together.

The Experience of a Couples session

Connection Over Perfection

Forget about stiff, traditional posing and holding fake smiles until your cheeks hurt. Our session is all about movement, candid laughter, and the effortless ways you two naturally interact. I’m not here to capture a perfectly manicured, rigid version of you; I’m here to capture your genuine connection, the quiet glances, and the big, messy belly laughs that make your relationship uniquely yours.

Playful Prompts

If you’re worried about feeling awkward or not knowing what to do with your hands, take a deep breath—I’ve got you covered. Instead of barking directions, I use fun, lighthearted prompts and interactive games that get you moving, reacting, and laughing together. Whether I’m having you whisper ridiculous secrets or spin each other around, you’ll be so busy having fun that you’ll completely forget there's a camera pointing at you.

A Memory, Not Just a Gallery

My ultimate goal is for you to walk away from our shoot with much more than just a gallery of beautiful images. I want the entire experience to feel like a memorable date night that leaves you feeling even closer than when you arrived. Years from now, when you look back at these photos on your wall, I want you to remember exactly how much fun you had making them, not just how great you looked.

FAQ

"We are so awkward in front of the camera! Will you tell us what to do?"

Absolutely. In fact, feeling "camera awkward" is 100% normal, and it’s exactly why I don't do stiff, traditional posing. Instead of leaving you hanging or telling you to "just act natural," I will guide you through the entire session with fun, interactive prompts and games. You won’t have to worry about where to look or what to do with your hands—you'll be too busy laughing, moving, and focusing on each other to feel self-conscious.

"What happens if the weather is bad on the day of our shoot?"

We’ll keep a close eye on the forecast as our date gets closer! If it's just a light drizzle or a bit cloudy, we can absolutely still shoot—overcast skies actually make for gorgeous, flattering light, and a little rain can add a super romantic, cinematic vibe. However, if the weather gets genuinely miserable, dangerous, or ruinous for the camera gear, we will simply reschedule for a better day at no extra cost to you.

"What should we wear to our session?"

The golden rule is to wear something that makes you feel confident, comfortable, and like yourselves. I always recommend choosing outfits that allow you to move freely—since we'll be walking, spinning, and maybe even running around. Aim for colors that complement each other rather than perfectly matching (think a cohesive color palette rather than wearing identical outfits), and try to avoid giant logos or super distracting patterns so the focus stays entirely on your connection.

"Can we bring our dog / a bottle of champagne / a card deck?"

Yes, please! If there is something that is a big part of your relationship or just sounds like a fun addition to a date night, I highly encourage bringing it along. Pop a bottle of bubbly to celebrate, bring your pup for some adorable family dynamics, or bring a blanket and some takeout for a cozy picnic vibe. This shoot is all about capturing your authentic story, so anything that helps tell that story is more than welcome.
